This tire came with VW Rabbit when we bought the car. We drove well over 50K now and it's still has some tread left. However the front tires are being worn out more then rear ones. No complains...

Tire Pros

? ? ? look good ? ? ?

Tire Cons

3rd tire sidewall problems never had this problem on any other vehicle.

Dislike mfg (VW) put these tires on the sportswagen. 3 problems with the sidewalls (just bearly off the tread line each time) Had low profile tires previously on a xB with 18" rims never a problem with the same driving patterns. This vehicle 3 tires in less than 15,000 miles under 3 years, not a good sign.

Tire Pros

OEM on my CLK350 quiet, smooth ride, economy is good

Tire Cons

tread wear is moderate (read review)

I bought these just last year for my CLK350 since they have a conservative tread, are OEM on the vehicle, and have a long 60,000 mile mileage warranty! Unfortunately, Continental changed the warranty to HALF if the tires are staggered. My rears are worn out now and the fronts I estimate will last to 36,000 - 38,000 miles. NOT what I was expecting - I drive WAY conservatively seeking economy & appearance over performance! Never would have thought they'd be wearing out so soon. YES, the tread is wearing extremely even across the tires, no feathering, cupping... I can't explain the low mileage. As always, DTD has prorated my new rears and I couldn't be happier with their service! THANK YOU DTD! :-) As for the fronts, should they last as I project they'll have met the "half of 60,000 mile" warranty they now offer... I'll consider these reviews next year when I need a new full set! Thanks DTD :-)

Tire Pros

I have put about 53,000 miles on these OEM tires, and I've never had them act unpredictably on me.

Tire Cons

The sidewall on one tire started to bulge a little at about 45,000 miles. Hard to say if it's a defect or the result of a hard hit.

As mentioned, these tires have been predictable, and with 53,000 miles on them, they still have about 4/32" of tread left (I just checked about 5 minutes ago). Living in Minnesota, I end up driving in everything in the course of 12 months. These are not dedicated winter tires, but the only times I've had issues in snow is during/after deep snow falls before the roads are cleared, and then they seem average. During this time, I simply wish I had my old truck with 4WD. Aside from that, they start just as well as 140 hp (and 236 ft-lbs!) would demand, stop and turn fine on dry or wet roads, and just start to make a little happy subdued squealing on fast 270 degree cloverleaf ramps. I chicken out before the tires do when the pavement is dry. All in all, these tires seem OK, though I am also considering the new Yokohama AVID Ascends as replacements before the snow starts to some down again. Any thoughts?
