I bought the nt05 tire mainly to bracket race in the street class at my local drag strip.Can't run anything softer than a 200 tread ware.I don't drive my car more than 20 or 30 miles a week on the street.These tires are fine on the street but I was disapointed with them at the strip. they squeel like a little girl during burn outs and don't hook up any better than the sumitomo tires I usually use that cost close to half the price. I'm just saying.

I bought these tires as a longer wearing alternative to R-compound race tires. I have a full day of very aggressive lapping on them, and they are about 1/3 worn out I think. Based on the number of laps I have done, this is not bad at all. The tires handled close to race tires except for less grip; this is what I wanted. My only complaint is that they squeel like street tires. As they are street tires, I guess that is OK, but the GY F1 supercars do not squeel. Some of the laps were in the rain, and these tires did OK. I will buy these again for track use. Also, they are surprisingly quiet on the street. I could care less about that, but it is noteworthy.

This tire is exactly what I wanted it to be and more, and is the tire Ford should have put on my Cobra straight out of the factory.
Only downside is the tread life, but any car with horsepower and a driver that likes to utilize said power is bound to go through tires faster than your average Civic.
I recommend these tires to anyone looking for a true performance tire on their Mustang. I cruised around on the Nitto 555R drag radials for quite some time, at the sacrifice of a LOT of sidewall stability. The NT05 is everything the 555R is/was, but you gain additional stability in sidewall flex, and can drive safely in the rain, a huge plus.
Good looks, good performance, good price. I'll buy these again, if not the NT01 for that extra grip in the corners.
From a true Seattlite, these are great in the rain, and stunning on dry roads. They are a performance tire and thus are noisier and ride a little harsher than a marshmallow tire, but if you have a performance car, you can't hear the tires over your exhaust anyhow :-)
Buy these, you won't be disappointed!

I have now 5,000 miles on these tires (including 3 track days). If you are looking for a tire which brings you to and from the track and then delivers on the track, look no further.
They are great on the street and on the track, no idea about wet handling - I live in California...
In Thunderhill (CCW) I was able to come within .5 seconds / lap to last year's laptimes on Victoracers V700! The tires handle great and predictable and as long as you watch the tire pressure they will not go out on you in the middle of the session (After lot of experimenting I ended up running 29/34 cold). Don't over-inflate them they don't like that.
My ONLY concern is how quickly they wear:
After 5,000 miles the rears are already below the wear markers and the fronts are just a little better.
It seems to me that my Victoracers lasted longer than that ;-)

This tire is one of the best dry grip tires I have ever purchased. I have tried pretty much every major "Max Performance" tire on the market. My last set were the rt-615's and I can take the exact same highway interchange ramp ~6mph faster with the NT-05. Everything the Falkens do the Nitto's do better. They grip more in the dry and wet. You can tell when your near the limits of grip easier. Tread life seems to be slightly better for the mileage I have on them currently. I would highly suggest them to anyone who wants the most dry grip out of their tire without dropping a large amount of money on R-compound tires.

NT05 has the best balance of performance and street characteristics. I always had the Falken 615 because there wasn't a tire that was available to meet all my requirements. In my opinion, NT05 does what a 615 does but better! Less road noise, better performance, more consistent, etc. Being a weekend warrior, I noticed that the tires performed above my expectations on the track. They were very consistent from lap to lap. I was able to turn quite a few laps in my 20 min session and the NT05 did not degrade as fast as the 615s. From now on I will only purchase the NT05s for my Supra whether it is for track use or street use.

Excellent tire! After just over 2000 miles, I am very happy with my purchase. I've tried the BFG G-Force Sports, Yokohama Advans and Falken Azenis RT-615's and prefer the Nitto NT05. They feel like a more expensive tire and grip extremely well. Considering the price and performance, these tires are the best deal out there.

Sticks like glue. Only bad part is they don't last. It should be expected. You trade treadlife for handling. On a high hp rear wheel drive car you will be replacing every year. Fronts are holding up fine but the rears are already at the wear bars

I'm runing 275/40/18 in my rear replacing the old Kumho ecsta MX. Theses are much more predictable at the limit and seems to warm up much faster.
What I really like about is predictability at the limit. as soon as my front Mx's run out, I'm going to replace them with Nt05 265/35/18s.

I came from the factory Bridgestone Potenza RE050A and I am very happy. Right out of the box the Nittos gripped better in straight line acceleration. I believe after they have a few more miles on them they'll grip even better. As far as ride comfort and noise, I can't tell any difference compared to the Bridgestones. I would recommend these tires to anyone that wants performance from a tire.
